Art Supplies- Scroungers’ Center for Re-Usable Art Parts accepts items such as paper, wire, leather, feathers, beads, art supplies, and much more. Your donations are creatively reused by needy schools and programs.
Baby Items- Baby2Baby supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing for their children 0-4 years old. They accept new and gently used items. Diaper Drive accepts unused diapers for low-income families in the Los Angeles area.
Bikes- The Burbank Recycle Center accepts bikes for the Burbank Bike Angels- a group of dedicated volunteers that restore used bikes for children in the community. Call (818) 238-3900 for more info.
Blankets, Comforters, Towels- If you have old blankets, towels, or comforters that are no longer fit to be donated- they might be just great for a poor little animal in a shelter. Try Operation Blankets of Love. They also take pet supplies and treats.
Books- Access Books– needs children’s books and educational magazines. Check out their Wish List. Most local libraries have a “Friends of the Library” group that would be happy to take your book donations. Here is information on the Los Angeles area.
Books, CDs, DVDs, LP records- Re-Book It is a free community service that picks up these items in the Los Angeles area. Their goal is keep books out of the landfill and into the hands of readers and to raise funds for libraries, schools, charities, and hospitals.
Cell Phones- Your old cell phone can be donated to Donate A Phone which helps victims of domestic violence.
Crayons– Crazy Crayons will take your old used and broken crayon pieces and turn them into fun new shapes that are 100% recycled crayons.
Dresses- The Glass Slipper Project accepts prom dresses and bridesmaid dresses for low income high school girls.
Eyeglasses- Lions Club International will clean and repair your old prescription glasses and distribute them to those in need.
Jewelry- I Have Wings Breast Cancer Foundation accepts jewelry- costume or estate- to enrich the lives of families during a breast cancer diagnosis.
Office Related- LA Shares takes donations of office furniture and supplies and matches them up with needy schools and non-profits. They send you a tax receipt and a letter from the recipient thanking you. Those letters always mean a lot to donors.
Shoes– Soles4Souls collects new and gently used shoes and distributes them to people in need by provisioning qualified micro-enterprise programs designed to create jobs in poor and disadvantaged communities.
Stuffed Animals- Stuffed Animals for Emergencies accepts new and gently used stuffed animals for children in distress.
Suits- Career Gear accepts new and gently worn suits for men. Dress for Success accepts them for women. And Clothes The Deal accepts business clothing for both men and women.
